Members travel from all over the Mid Wales and Borders area.
Some live near Welshpool, Newtown, Llanidloes, or Machynlleth, others come over the border from Shropshire and the Marches.
We welcome members of all ages and abilities.
In general, we are amateur fibre fanatics, mostly spinners, but we have a few experienced weavers, plus some felters and braiders. Some of our members are professional dyers. Most of us turn our hand at anything to do with fibre, and are usually in the process of aquiring some sort of new skill. Guilds are a great place to try out new techniques, and be exposed to different ideas.
Membership is £30 for the year and includes tea, coffee and biscuits at meetings, and allows you to borrow library books free of charge.
Our charge for day visitors is £5 and also includes tea, coffee and biscuits. If you join as a member after your first meeting your visitor charge will be deducted from your annual membership fee.
There may be an additional charge for workshops.
We welcome new members, and will happily teach you to spin, if you will need to borrow a wheel please email us in advance.
Tuition is unfortunately only available when we have an open meeting, please check the programme for details.
If you can already spin or weave you are more than welcome to come along to any meeting, we love having visitors.
We have a limited amount of equipment available to hire for members. If you wish to borrow anything make sure to get in touch with the committee to ensure it’s bought along to a meeting.
